I asked Andrea S. to Junior Prom,

The boys said,
"she's easy"
The boys called her a slut.
The boys said,
She loves being a slut.
The boys made sex noises
They slurred on about her.
Those boys slapped the wall, mouthing slurping sounds.

"Fuck off."

Boys,
Their words were
Wet towels used as whips,
I never liked what the boys did,
And said
in gym locker room.

Andrea S thought I was so funny and popular,
Social blast.
Carried her books.

Andrea S. was petite, smile on stuck, strawberry hair, black leggings, high cloudy eyes.

She knew what the boys said about her.
In her eyes
secret.

Young,
I fell in love
but tried to be cool.
Pretended to be on coke
and wore blue.

Andrea S invited me to her house,
Her mom danced, wore big sunglasses. We had hot dogs,
Andrea took me to the swimming pool.

I didn't bring swim trunks,
Was wearing silk smiley face boxers with slits.
I quickly became excited when she
Cast off her towel,
Lunged toward me.

We splashed each other,
I picked her up from the water
We laughed and I threw her to the other end.
Then her mom had left,
Thoughts in my head.

I got out of the pool and did
Jumping jacks
with my back faced Andrea,
hiding my excitement.

We had popcorn, I asked
"Andrea S, do you wanna go going steady with me?"
Andrea S giggled,

"You're still taking me to the prom, John?"
She was a Sophomore.

Day of,
Picked from the icebox
I Gave Andrea S
fresh carnation
for her wrist,

Andrea S. wore a sparkling short black slip,
Legs in thin dark nylons,
Hair done up in intricate hardened bow,
curly light strands dangle,
graced her rosy cheeks,
Black heels with thin shiny straps,
Flowers anklet,
Jewelry shine.

I wore 3-piece jet black suit
shiny dark vest,
couldn't wait to take off the tie,
Marooned
button down shirt,
Silver cuff links,
Conveniently styled messy shag,
Silver chain necklace,
Swankily black leather shoes.

Kenny's parents bought us a limousine.
There was a cooler with ice, non-alcoholic bottles.
Other couples,
Laughing and singing,
Open sunroof,
Nelly and Blink 182 "All The Small Things"
Turned up.

I was high,
When Andrea put her arm in mine,
Rested her body to my side.

We took our shoes off, peach feet
Danced.
I wanted Andrea for all the slow jams.
But
She socialized all about the banquet hall.

I danced in a group
with friends, we shouted, and sung
Request to the DJ, play
Big Pun.

After Prom, we went to Kenny's parent's mansion.
It was dark, white, spacious
We ate grapes, had a little wine.
Cheese and crackers.

Kenny put  in an porno,
I was lore of disinterest,
Kenny and Andrea
Were into it.

I asked Andrea if she wanted to go outside balcony.

Andrea S wanted to stay inside, change clothes.
Kenny brought her a pair of blue silk short shorts.

On the couch, moans from the TV
Anal Sex, grimy VHS.
Andrea and Kenny's body language.
I didn't want wine.
I wanted to jump off a higher ledge.

They gone into the bedroom,
To sleep.
I stayed in the living room
Silent weep.
Looking at dry blank wall,
Clock, family portrait, landscape painting.
Screwed was this thinking,
Whatever.

Broken heart meditation.
I called my friend Justin D,
His brother Scott,
Had a black truck,
Pick me up.
Get me the hell
Away.

Andrea came out of the bedroom,
To get some lemonade,
I told her I was leaving,
Ice coldly, didn't ask
What happened.

Confused, Andrea S said, "Okay?"

Scott D's black truck pulled up by the curb,
Justin D said from window,
"So... was it a let down total shit fest, Fish?"

"Fuck proms. Smoke?"

Proceeded to blaze pass trees.
